Scheiwiller Books

A cultural and editorial project that combines the continuation of series from the historic publishing house with new proposals dedicated to the artistic and literary events of our time. Two key words: quality and research, pursued through a direct relationship with the authors.

In 2007 the historic brand founded in Milan by Vanni Scheiwiller was reborn, an acquisition that allowed us to further expand our catalog, introducing a proposal of essays on the arts and current affairs. A publishing project in dialogue between memory and the future, flanking the continuation of the historical series with new titles on contemporary issues.

The historic series Idee and L’Arte e le Arti, which originated under the leadership of Vanni Scheiwiller in the 1970s, are returning. The former represents an open window on the contemporary world, with essays devoted to economic, philosophical, political and social issues, while the latter explores modern and contemporary art criticism, investigating the social and cultural role of art. The entire project is characterized by the close collaboration with the authors, selected from among the leading Italian experts on the topics covered, and the choice to address topical issues such as the relationship between art and climate change and the economic valorization of culture.

It is 2021 the launch of the new Interviews series, inspired by Andy Warhol’s famous magazine, built around the interview format, where experts in design, architecture, film, and theater converse with leading figures in their respective disciplines, exploring fresh points of view on historical issues, as in the volume devoted to the collection of women’s perspectives on museum management.

The new graphic identity maintains brand recognition, but introduces thematic differentiation through small boxes of varying color and size that decorate the spine of the volumes. A visual detail that returns the image of an eclectic and changing library designed to keep pace with the evolution of thought and the arts.

The partnership with the Brera Academy

In 2021 Libri Scheiwiller won a tender to produce volumes of high scholarly content in collaboration with the Brera Academy of Fine Arts, to document and highlight the contributions of important artists and teachers who have marked the history of the Academy. The first titles in the series are dedicated to the lectures and artistic thought of Luciano Fabro and Ugo La Pietra and to Achille Funi, an emblematic figure of 20th-century Italian painting and also a lecturer at the Academy.

Tailor-made volumes and publishing services

We give editorial shape to the ideas of public administrations, museums and companies, creating tailor-made volumes from their content and needs. We do this with that care for form and content that is the hallmark of our approach to books.

International Editions

Art speaks a universal language that knows no boundaries. In an increasingly connected and fluid world, our stories are born to travel far. We partner with major international publishers and museums in creating volumes designed for a global audience.
