Art Heroes Series – Volume 1
Texts by Jacopo Silvestre

The first volume of a new manga-inspired series dedicated to young readers who love adventure stories, time travel, and art. Getting to know great artists has never been so much fun!
The Grey Rose is a fraternity that has been fighting for the victory of mediocrity over art and knowledge for centuries. For a long time it has remained in the shadows, but lately, under the leadership of its new leader Acromicus, it has resumed its crusade against creativity by inventing a machine that greys the works of the most celebrated artists. The first target? Leonardo da Vinci! However, Vittorio, a janitor and art enthusiast, has invented a way to save the paintings: “just” go back in time, retrieve an object representing the artistic identity of the targeted painter, return to the present, and dissolve the object in a mixture of sulfuric acid and…cinnamon. When Alvise, Zoe, Brunilde, Sara, and Iñigo are at Vittorio’s one afternoon to study, he confides his plan to them. The kids think the old janitor is a tad touched, but as he goes to get ready they light a strange candle to illuminate a painting and suddenly find themselves catapulted back to the 1500s! Will our heroes be able to pull off the adventure?
